About us

It is recognised that one in four people will experience a mental health difficulty at some point in their lives.

Banes Talking Therapies is an Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service which¬†seeks to use the least intrusive method of care possible to treat people. This is called a “Stepped Care” model and means that the person is provided with the most effective, least intensive treatment to meet their needs. The clinician you see initially will explain to you what choices are available for you and why they are considered suitable for you.

Our team is made up of assistant psychologists who primarily run the psychoeducational groups, Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners or PWP’s who run the assessment appointments and the low intensity CBT appointments, counsellors who offer some counselling sessions as well as running assessment appointments and High Intensity or CBT Practitioners who offer both the assessment appointments and high intensity CBT treatment sessions.

The service offers a wide range of interventions to people who are aged 16 years and over and who are registered with a GP within Bath and North East Somerset. These interventions have been researched to show that they are effective in treating difficulties such as:-

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Stress
  • Panic
  • Post Natal Depression
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

We also offer treatments which are useful in managing long term health conditions and difficulties such as sleeping.
