Introduction to Mindfulness (4 Sessions)

Date: 02/11/2021  |  Location: Online/Microsoft Teams

4 sessions

We can often live our lives on “auto-pilot” and react habitually to situations in unhelpful ways. Mindfulness allows us to be more flexible in our response to the stresses of life, to be less driven and distressed by our thoughts and emotions, and to appreciate each moment of life more fully. Mindfulness can be beneficial for people experiencing low mood or anxiety, and for managing long term health conditions.

Please note; Although Mindfulness is designed to help us deal with times of crisis, it is not easy to learn the skills at such times. It is therefore recommended that you choose a time of relative stability to undertake the course. More information can be found under the ‘What we offer’ section of the website.

Topics covered include:

  • An introduction to the mindfulness approach
  • Mindfulness practices such as bodyscan, sitting meditation and mindful movement

Please note this course is structured differently to our other courses, and will involve participating in mindfulness practices followed by small group discussions about this experience.

If possible we would like participants to do the bodyscan lying down. If you would prefer to lie down we recommend bringing something to lie on such as a mat or blanket, however this is not compulsory.

Body temperature tends to lower doing the bodyscan and therefore we recommend warm clothes or a blanket to cover you. The course involves daily practice between the weekly sessions – further details will be given out at the end of each session.

This workshop/course will run for 4 sessions held on a Tuesday Evening, starting at 6:00 pm and finishing at 8:00 pm.

Internet access is required and you will need to use Microsoft Teams to access this course.
