Introduction to Mindfulness (4 Sessions)

Date: 26/04/19 Location: Paulton

Address:
The Turner Room
Paulton Memorial Hospital
Paulton, BANES
BS39 7SB
United Kingdom Map and Directions

Date: 26/04/19

We can often live our lives on “auto-pilot” and react habitually to situations in unhelpful ways. Mindfulness allows us to be more flexible in our response to the stresses of life, to be less driven and distressed by our thoughts and emotions, and to appreciate each moment of life more fully. Mindfulness can be beneficial for people experiencing low mood or anxiety, and for managing long term health conditions. More information can be found under the ‘What we offer’ section of the website.

This course will include:

  • An introduction to the mindfulness approach
  • Mindfulness practices such as bodyscan, sitting meditation and mindful movement. If possible we would like participants to do the bodyscan lying down. If you would prefer to lie down we recommend bringing something to lie on such as a mat or blanket, however this is not compulsory.

This course will run for four weekly sessions held on a Friday morning starting at 10:00 am and finishing at 12:00 pm.

Body temperature tends to lower doing the bodyscan and therefore we recommend warm clothes or a blanket to cover you. The course involves daily practice between the weekly sessions - further details will be given out at the end of each session.

Please note this course is structured differently to our other courses, and will involve participating in mindfulness practices followed by small group discussions about this experience.
