Introduction to Mindfulness (4 sessions)

Date: 08/08/19 Location: Keynsham

Address:
The Fellowship Room (Key Centre)
Keynsham Methodist Church
Keynsham, BANES
BS31 2JA
UNITED KINGDOM Map and Directions

Date: 08/08/19

We can often live our lives on “auto-pilot” and react habitually to situations in unhelpful ways. Mindfulness allows us to be more flexible in our response to the stresses of life, to be less driven and distressed by our thoughts and emotions, and to appreciate each moment of life more fully. Mindfulness can be beneficial for people experiencing low mood or anxiety, and for managing long term health conditions.

This course will include:

  • An introduction to the Mindfulness approach
  • Mindfulness practices such as the bodyscan, sitting meditation and mindful movement

This course will run for four weekly sessions held on a Thursday morning between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm.

Some participants prefer to do the bodyscan lying down. If you would like to do so, it would be preferable if you could bring something to lie on such as a mat or blanket.

Body temperature tends to lower doing the bodyscan and therefore we recommend ensuring you have warm clothes or a blanket to cover you. The course involves daily practice between the weekly sessions further details will be given out at the end of each session.

Please note this course is structured differently to our other courses, and will involve participating in mindfulness practices followed by small group discussions about this experience.

There is very limited parking at this venue. We recommend parking in one of the car parks located a short walk away or using public transport.
